Information: |
| |
Before
Storm Season:
|
- Trim any tree limbs that could possibly damage the satellite dish when blown by a strong wind.
- Make sure the area around the satellite dish is free of any debris that could blow into the dish, potentially jarring it.
- Make sure all visble cables and outdoor equipment (the satellite dish itself, ground blocks, and switches) are firmly secured.
- Make sure your DISH Network receiver is plugged into a good Surge Protector - one with a rating of at least 850 joules.
|
|
During a Severe Thunder Storm: |
- Unplug your DISH Network receiver from the electrical outlet if it is not connected to a good surge protector, rated 850 joules or more.
- Do not rely solely on TV forecasts or on-screen "weather tickers." Use a battery-operated
radio to monitor your local severe weather alerts and take shelter when directed.
|
|
After the Storm has Passed: |
|
1. Visually inspect your satellite dish: |
- Is your dish still mounted securely on your home or pole mount?
- Is your dish facing its original direction? (typically South-to-Southwest)
- Is there any noticeable damage to the satellite dish or other equipment? |
|
2. Check your DISH Network receiver: |
Make
sure your DISH Network receiver is plugged in, turned on, and connected to the cable from the satellite.
If the front of your receiver doesn't show a small green light, press the red POWER button on your remote
to turn the receiver on. Don't forget to make sure that any surge protectors are turned on and working properly.
In some instances, your DISH Network receiver may need to be reset. |
|
- Press and hold the POWER button on your receiver's front panel for 10 seconds, then release the button.
- Your receiver will reset and programming should resume as normal, typically within five minutes. |
| 3. Check
your television setup: |
Make
sure your television is
plugged in and turned on.
Don't
forget to check that any
surge protectors are turned on and working properly.
You may need to set your TV to the channel or Input source on which you normally watch DISH Network.
Common TV channels are: Channel 3 or Channel 4, as well as Channel 60 or Channel 73. |
