Remote Control Problems:

Problem: My remote control doesn't change the TV channels, volume, or turn the TV on or off.

Solution: The remote control must be programmed to your TV set.

NOTE: These instructions will only work if your remote control has four clear white buttons labeled "SAT, TV, VCR, AUX"

  • If your TV has a built-in DVD player and/or VCR, the DISH Network remote may not be able to turn the TV on/off, or use the Volume and Mute buttons.
  • If these tips do not resolve the problem, please use the original remote control provided with your TV for these functions.

Power Scan Method:
NOTE: Do not allow more than 20 seconds to elapse while performing steps two through five.

1. Make sure your TV is turned on.

2. On your DISH Network remote control, press and hold the TV button until all four buttons at the top glow red. Release the TV button.

3. Press and release the big red POWER button. The TV button should now be solid red.

4. Find the blue Channel UP button. Press and release this button until the TV turns off.

- With each press of the Channel UP button, the TV button will blink.
- There are over 200 codes in the remote control, so this may take a few moments.
- If the TV button blinks three (3) or more times when pressing the Channel UP button, you have already cycled through all of the codes.

5. When your TV turns off, press the # button (the pound button) to lock in the code. The TV button should blink red three (3) times.
